Flood Information Service Ireland - Floodzee
Timing of Flood status updates and alerts
Flood outlook and status updates will typically to be completed during the winter flood season from Oct 1st to March 31st. The outlook will be updated at least weekly. At times during the season flood events may occur and during these events alerts will be issued more frequently as the need arises. If prolonged cold or high pressure conditions occur then Floodzee may issue limited cold weather advice.
Flood alerts will be issued when Floodzee outlook establishes conditions which may cause flooding in accordance with a colour coded alert system and based on a probabilistic model output. These alerts will be issued when required.
False Positive and False Negative alerts
We will monitor and report on the incidences of false positives and false negative with an aim to keep them to a minimum. As with all services based on data and analysis the more data we collect and analyse the better our models will become and we are committed to continuous improvement and development and roll out of new flood outlook and alert tools. This will include a broad range of flood services for the public. If you have any questions about our services please contact us via our facebook page.
